Another great product by Dogtopia

The bottle arrived with some leakage around the seal and cap which was a little disappointing. The bottle didnt appear to be tampered with so I felt it was safe to use. I used it on my husky who often gets hotspots and itchy areas. With a double coat, shampoos can be tricky, and while this one lathered fine, I did need to use more than expected to work it all the way down to the skin. Hopefully it was able to penetrate enough to help with his irritation.

The scent is very mild and does not overpower or linger too strongly. After rinsing, I followed with Dogtopias pina-colada conditioner, and after his blow dry, his coat looked beautiful - soft, fluffy, and very clean.

Time will tell if the medicated shampoo helps with his skin, but overall Im pleased with how his coat turned out. :For those with thick-coated breeds, just know you may need to use a generous amount to get full coverage.

Great product

Full disclosure, I ordered this for myself because ketoconazole seems to help my itchy & oily scalp. It's a great shampoo! No cloying scent like most human products, lathers well, and cleans thoroughly & rinses out completely even when I use it during a bath instead of a shower.

Smells nice. Foams well.

As others have mentioned, the bottle seemed to have a leak. The bottle is shrink wrapped but you could see shampoo under the plastic. Instead of it leaking, I think that maybe there was product on the outside of the bottles and then they got shrink wrapped on top of the spill. I opened the bottle, removed the seal (which was still in place) screwed the top back on, washed the bottle, and then squeezed it to see if it was leaking - I found no leak. The bottle also seemed full.

As for the product itself, it does have a nice light mint smell. It's thick (like you'd expect from a shampoo). It lathers well, I can't speak to the anti-itch since I never got to use it on my "itchy" dog.

nice

Ive been using the Dogtopia Keto-Dog Medicated Shampoo for my dog, and I couldnt be happier with the results! My dog has had some skin irritation and dryness, and this shampoo has been a game-changer. The therapeutic formula with colloidal oatmeal works wonders to soothe and moisturize his skin, and I've noticed a significant improvement after just a few uses.

Off-label use

will start by saying, I try products that I intend to put on my pets on myself.

There seems to be a problem with the package leaking. I am VERY confused as to HOW the leak occurred because the safety seal seemed to be fully sealed, but there was still product that leaked from the bottle. Very confused.

The scent is lightly mint, which is very nice. I don't LOVE it. But it isn't intense. Additionally, I didn't notice any kind of "cooling" feeling that I typically associate with mint, which is great.

I didn't think the lather was great. There is SOME, but when washing the dog I prefer that there is a decent lather so I can use it to wash the dog. That is just what I am used to. I felt this required a little more "working around" and reapplication than I would like.

I do not like that it needs to sit for 5-10 minutes. I have a hard enough time doing that for myself when I am using conditioning masks, etc. Asking the dog who DOESN'T like baths to do it is tricky. I mean... he's already upset that he has to be in there.

Remember how I said I try everything on myself? I highly, HIGHLY, want to discourage anyone from using this on your dog's head. Because even watered down, if this gets near your eyes it is really uncomfortable. I know that no one does that intentionally, but sometimes people can be a little careless when washing their pets. Towards the end when I was rinsing some of the rinse water got in my eyes and it was really uncomfortable.

The results were pretty good and things were very clean. I did notice that previously irritated skin was considerably less irritated after.
